“Virtue Alone Ennobles” — Retracing the historic footprints of Nagpur district's most revered convent school.

The Epic Journey of 1854

The Arduous 80-Day Commute

In the early months of 1854, answering the call of Bishop Neyret, three pioneering sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery — Mother St. Joseph Boissat, Sister Alphonse, and Sister Ursula — set out from Vizagapatam.

Traveling by a slow, rudimentary bullock cart, they navigated dense forests, rough paths, and extreme climates for **80 days** across Central India before arriving in Kamptee on **6th April 1854**.

Upon their arrival, they immediately established a Day School and Orphanage, planting the seed of what would become the very first institution of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery in all of India.
